At the crossroads of contemporary design and craftsmanship, Glass Reflections embarks on an extensive exploration of glass expertise and innovation.
This transcultural project between Mexico and Switzerland brings together five designers – Julie Richoz, Nicolas Le Moigne, Laurin Schaub, Dimitri Nassisi, and Michel Charlot – winners of the Swiss Design Awards and selected by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture to take part in a residency programme at Nouvel, a Mexican brand with over thirty years of experience in high-end glass craftsmanship.
This long-term collaborative program has been running for five-years in Nouvel’s workshop in Mexico. This initiative offers an in-depth look at the qualities of the material, manufacturing processes, and the potential of glass applications. Each designer adopts a distinct approach in harmony with Nouvel's know-how and their own practices.
Glass Reflections aims to be a space for thinking, where glass becomes a medium for applied experimentation. The glass pavilion, conceived by Adrien Rovero for the exhibition and constructed with over four thousand Grid bricks, stands as a remarkable example.
Presented at ECAL (University of Design and Art of Lausanne), the institution serves as an ideal setting for highlighting these cultural exchanges and understanding the artistic perspectives and contemporary challenges of design.
